Dragon Products has been an industry leader on environmental issues for many years. Our environmental commitment starts with the cement manufacturing process itself. Dragon supplements our feedstock with alternative raw materials such as oil contaminated soils and by-products from steel making, electricity generation and the pulp and paper industry.

Dragon recently completed a $40 million modernization of the cement plant by converting the plant from a wet process to a more efficient dry process.  This facility upgrade incorporates the most recent developments in environmental technology into the manufacturing process.  By converting to the modern process, Dragon is able to increase the production capacity of the plant without increasing our fuel usage or licensed air emissions.  

These efforts benefit Dragon, the community and the environment. In recognition of our leadership, Dragon received the following awards:

• Governor’s Award for Pollution Prevention presented by the Maine Chamber and Business Alliance,
• Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence presented by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

By reducing our use of virgin natural resources, incorporating recycling and reuse in our operation and reducing our waste products, we will continue to work to find innovative ways to minimize our impacts on the environment.
